OPEN HEARTH MISSION STATEMENT

Across time and cultures, people have gathered at the Hearth to eat, socialize, tell stories, play music, dance, discuss problems, contemplate, celebrate, make and create…to nourish themselves, their families and their communities. In that spirit, Open Hearth:

• Makes opportunities for people to gather, create, nourish and sustain themselves as artists and artistic communities.
  
  
• Produces events, workshops, and classes which focus on the capacity of art to help individuals, groups and societies explore, process and communicate about their core concerns.
  
  
• Is a safe, respectful venue for diving into the deep waters: for creative adventure, exploration through art-making; risk-taking; dialogue; and the creative celebration of the diverse, complex, exquisite and mysterious nature of being and community.
  
  
• Strengthens the artistic communities of Taos County, Taos Pueblo and New Mexico through activities which establish or enhance existing artistic dialogue, collaboration and professional coordination.
